Generating Genius: A science leadership programme

Generating Genius is a registered charity registration: 1107777.

For 2 years, Generating Genius has been recruiting motivated high school students from underrepresented backgrounds into our Science Leadership Programme. The aim is to help students realise their full potential. With our targeted services, we give students knowledge in Science, leadership, entrepreneurship, workplace experience, Career planning and access into the top Universities.
  • Our core students sign - up to a 3 year programme which begins with a summer school and a number of interventions throughout each year
  • Students usually begin with us age 12/13 and we support them with summer schools, mentoring and internships
  • We believe also in the concept of peer mentoring and our scholars do work in their own high schools and mentor primary school children in their neighbourhoods
  • We think that the answer to male underachievement in our inner -cities lies in providing high intellectual challenge, keen competition, a caring environment, personal and professional connections, soaring expectations and the meaningful pathways to realising potential
  • We work with some of the top Universities in the world

Generating Genius is a charity with a mission to encourage and develop under-privileged talented students from diverse backgrounds and have them aspire to professions in the various fields of scientific endeavour - engineering, medicine, bio-technology, life sciences etc.

Generating Genius does this through developing innovative and collaborative programmes with Universities and other third party stakeholders such as secondary schools, parents, teachers and educational authorities. Such programmes establish a career pathway for students (aged 13 years and older) facilitating early exposure to science careers which will motivate and inspire such students early in their educational experience.

As schools and policy makers struggle to engage boys from the inner-cities, Generating Genius has found innovative methods to bring out the best of these talented children. We do this by setting the academic standard high and creating a context where boys can demonstrate their instincts for competition, teamwork and high performance.
